What is Cartoon Allies?
We are SVA's comics and conventions club.
Who can join?
Any SVA student can join Cartoon Allies. We are open to all majors!
How do I join?
If you're here, you're already a member! If you'd like to join our newsletter or discord server, reach out to us from your SVA email account at cartoonallies[at]sva.edu
When/Where are meetings?
Unless stated otherwise, meetings are on Fridays at 6:30pm in the 380 2nd Ave building, room 701G.
What conventions do you attend?
We represent students yearly at SPX, MoCCA Fest, and SVA's Holiday Bazaar. We also host our own yearly comics festival, Fresh Meat! In addition, we try to table with student work at any conventions that offer us a spot, so if you know anyone interested in having us, send an email our way!
How do I become an officer?
We open officer applications every year. If you'd like to become an Allies officer, we encourage you to attend meetings regularly! We will send out a notice in the Newsletter and Discord when we are accepting new officer applications.
What if I can't make it to meetings?
We encourage you to join our online meetings! Every year we have a few online guest speakers, and we will host some extra events on our discord to help catch folks who can't make the Friday meetings.
How can I sell my work through you?
We accept submissions for conventions/tabling opportunities about two weeks in advance of any event. All you will have to do is make sure you have 5-25 copies of the items you'd like to sell, a filled out submission form via our website, discord, or newsletter, and to read the directions carefully. We may have to leave your submission behind if it doesn't adhere to our guidelines.
